Overview

KerjaKampus↗ is a talent marketplace and freelance platform tailored for Indonesian university students and fresh graduates. The platform bridges the transition between academia and industry by enabling students to monetize their skills, build verified portfolios, and take on flexible gigs from businesses, startups, and MSMEs (UMKM).

As the Fullstack Developer, I was responsible for the entire product lifecycle from inception to deployment — leading system architecture, relational database design, responsive UI implementation, API integration, and final production launch on a custom domain.

The Challenge

University students in Indonesia often face a classic paradox: employers demand real-world portfolio experience, but entry-level professional opportunities remain hard to access before graduation. On the flip side, local startups and MSMEs frequently need skilled digital talent (UI/UX designers, developers, content creators) for well-scoped projects without the overhead of full-time hiring.

The technical challenge was to build an all-in-one platform that:

• Simplifies talent onboarding into a clean, guided 4-step process.
• Provides a fast, filterable marketplace for projects with clear compensation tiers.
• Serves two distinct user personas (student talents and business clients) with frictionless role-based workflows.
• Remains highly performant, mobile-first, and easily maintainable.

What I Built

1. Dual-Sided Marketplace & Dynamic Filtering

Built an intuitive project explorer that lets students quickly discover relevant opportunities. Users can filter listings dynamically across multiple facets:

• Category: Web development, UI/UX, graphic design, content writing, data, etc.
• Work Mode: Remote, hybrid, or on-site.
• Contract Type: Freelance, project-based, part-time, or internship.
• Experience Level: Entry, intermediate, or advanced.

Each job card prominently highlights compensation estimates, required tech stack badges, and application status.

2. Guided 4-Step Talent Onboarding

Designed and built a progressive disclosure flow ("Bagaimana KerjaKampus Bekerja") that helps students get started without cognitive overload:

1. Lengkapi Profil: Create a free account, list campus background, core competencies, and upload verified portfolio pieces.
2. Eksplorasi Proyek: Browse vetted opportunities with transparent budgets and expectations.
3. Kirim Lamaran & Pitching: Submit proposals and communicate with prospective clients.
4. Eksekusi & Pembayaran: Deliver milestone deliverables and receive safe, verified compensation.

3. Business & Client Workspace

Implemented recruiter and business features allowing clients to post job listings without quota limits, manage applicant shortlists, and review verified student profiles with star ratings and reviews.

4. Transparent Tiered Pricing Structure

Integrated a zero-commission beta model for both student talents and businesses, making the platform accessible for early adopters while establishing the data model for future platform fee scaling.

Architecture & Engineering Decisions

• Fullstack Next.js Implementation: Structured modular components and views for dynamic marketplace filters, interactive student onboarding, and fast client-side navigation.
• Relational Database & Data Modeling: Designed relational database schemas in MySQL to structure job categories, applicant submissions, and recruiter listings.
• Mobile-First Responsive Design: Crafted utility-first styling with Tailwind CSS ensuring pixel-perfect usability across smartphones, tablets, and high-resolution desktop displays.
• Production Deployment & Domain: Deployed the production build to InfinityFree web hosting, integrated with an official Indonesian .my.id top-level domain (kerjakampus.my.id) and configured with full SSL/TLS encryption.

Outcome

KerjaKampus successfully launched to production as a unified platform empowering students to gain professional credibility before graduation, delivering a seamless zero-to-one engineering milestone.
